Prophecy

1TH 5.20 -22 .NIV

Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.

I would be sharing with you in the next few weeks a personal burden to see the people of God stop falling prey to what I liken to an epidemic within the church, "false prophets" quite frankly many are falling prey of these guys.

While it is not my intention to mention and point fingers, I feel it would benefit the body if people have a biblical understanding of the subject matter.

Faithlife bible study margin defines the word "prophēteias" as an utterance inspired by the Holy Spirit for the edification of the church community (1 Cor 14:4)

This implies that prophecy is originated from God, and the purpose is to encourage the believer. Going over to the primary text, there is the danger that prophecy can be treated with contempt,  implying it can be ignored and not taking seriously. The background to this problem is that due to the past occult practice in Thessolonica Spiritual manifestation were treated with contempt.

The danger of what we are dealing with is that prophecy can be easily despised because of the fakes. However my prayer is that this blog would help people of God to really know how to hear the voice of God behind what is been said.

I would also be looking at the difference between prophecy, soothsayer and occultism.

Stay tuned and share with your loved ones as well as on your social network.
